Challenge Day
Back
Thursday was Challenge Day for everyone at Skinners' Temple Grove! We gathered in the hall for an assembly to launch the day before setting off to get stuck into our activities.
Every child from Reception to Year 6 paired up during a 'Reading Buddies' session, where they shared a book and listened to each other reading. As well as this, we put extra reading for pleasure sessions into the timetable for the day to continue our work on exposing our children to the magic of books!
Mr Angus put together some interesting investigations using shape. The children had to be resilient when solving these problems and they had to think outside of the box to get the answers.
In writing, the children had three picture prompts to choose from and they could write whatever they wanted. In a world where so much is digital, it feels special to be able to spend some time writing for pleasure and being creative.
Then in the afternoon, there was a big teacher swap! Everyone was taught by a different teacher and they all looked like they had a great time. After this, we spent time in our house groups exploring the house value more deeply and considering what it really means to embody our school values.
This was a fantastic day and the children made us so proud with how they handled the challenges!
